In this group project, the task was to design an Acute Care Center in a new 12 story hospital tower. The care center serves as an 2050 sqm (22,000 sqft.) general hospital with both surgical and radiology departments. The group aimed to create a stimulating ocean themed environment for patients and visitors. The hospital is called Atlantea, and it is proposed to be located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a city situated on the Atlantic. The hospital follows the cool colours of the ocean, and it is immersed with graphics of aquatic life. The hospital was inspired by aquariums, and it was designed to have a playful yet professional environment. The hospital is also designed to include AODA standards. Christopher's role was designing the surgical department, the central nursing station and the patient room.
