INTROSPECTIVE SCULPTURE

Hands on the World Bowl

This sculpture was inspired by food inequality and the topic of world hunger. The work depicts two hands holding on to what is the bottom half of the earth (the southern hemisphere), to represent a bowl. The hands are made out of clay and a hollow Styrofoam half-sphere is used for the bowl. The clay is used to characterizes human form and the Styrofoam is used because it is a common material used in a lot of food packaging around the world.
